National Garden Scheme

There are 32 garden owners who open their gardens for charity under the NGS scheme in Monmouthshire. A number of them are members of the HPS. It’s your duty to visit them all!!

Monmouthshire HPS is affiliated to the RHS. This means that HPS Members have opportunities to

  • Visit one of the RHS gardens for free (limited numbers)
  • Receive magazines and e-communications
  • Access largest network of gardening clubs in UK
  • Enter RHS competitions
  • Access free gardening advice

RHS has 200 beautiful Partner Gardens throughout the UK including one in Monmouthshire, 

Nant-y-Bedd, owned by HPS members.

Garden Clubs

Monmouthshire has a number of very active Garden Clubs with their own meeting, speaker and visit programmes. Some examples are

University of The Third Age

There are 14 active U3A groups in Monmouthshire and many of them have active gardening sections. If interested to join one look them up here        

This organisation aims to conserve the diversity of our garden plants and they take care of the National Plant Collections. Non-Members are usually welcome to the local events.

There is no local group in South Wales but Herefordshire have a very active group and is home to 8 National Plant Collections. More information can be found here
