The HPS Monmouthshire Group is for those who love hardy herbaceous perennials, shrubs and trees and enjoy sharing their enthusiasm with other likeminded gardeners in the County and beyond.
We are part of a network of 45 local groups throughout the UK which is registered with the National Hardy Plants Society. Our Group is also an Affiliated Society of the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS)

Members Garden Centre Discount
We’re delighted to be launching our Members’ Discount Scheme with four garden centres in the area: Abergavenny Garden Centre; Nantyderry Garden Centre, Secret Garden GC; and Morris’ of Usk Garden Centre.
You will need to show your new Monmouthshire Group membership card to receive a discount (10%) on full-price plants only. The plants must be separated from any other items and the card shown before the plants are put through the till.
To receive your membership card, please send a stamped addressed envelope to our Secretary, Brigid Hamilton-Jones and she’ll put one in the post for you. Her address is Nant Ceiriog, Watery Lane, Monmouth NP25 5AT.

Stephanie is the award winning Editor of Gardens Illustrated magazine and their major new book ‘The New Beautiful – inspiring gardens for a resilient future”. She previously edited Inside Horticulture, Garden Design Journal and The English Garden and wrote freelance for newspapers, magazines and websites including The Telegraph, The Guardian, The Sunday Times, The Garden, Homes & Gardens, Country Living, Country Homes & Interiors. Author of four books and presenter of the excellent Talking Gardens podcast.
She will talk about the challenges of creating the premier garden magazine, renowned for its superb photography and its authoritative and inspirational content, at a time when gardens and gardeners are facing the need to address resilience and sustainability.
Stephanie will be talking about what the magazine looks for in a garden and the process of finding not only the garden and garden owners but also the appropriate photographer and writer, so essential for their articles. If you have ever wondered why and how a magazine is put together, then Stephanie can supply the answers. She will talk about trends in garden design and horticulture which have developed over the years and how this shift was the inspiration for the book which features some of the most exciting, beautiful and innovative gardens from all over the world.
